Chelsea Karr Success Story

Today’s SC Works Trident #iWork #SuccessStory tells the journey of Chelsea’s determination after joining the youth program in June 2017 as a high school dropout. She joined the program because she knew obtaining her GED was a must … no matter how scared she was of failing.

Faced with many challenges along her journey, including health, family and transportation issues, Chelsea wanted to give up at times. But, our staff encouraged her to keep pushing towards her goal.

Chelsea maintained communication with her Career Coach and GED instructors and took the initiative to put in extra classroom hours whenever possible. By December 2017, Chelsea passed three sections of the GED test. With an increased confidence level, she realized she could accomplish anything.

Struggling with the Math GED in the past, she knew it was her ultimate test. After passing the practice test on April 23, 2018, she felt ready for the real deal and scheduled her official Math GED test. On April 30, 2018, Chelsea passed the test on her first try and is an official High School Graduate.

Chelsea is currently taking the steps to enroll at Trident Technical College and study Veterinary Technology. Congratulations, Chelsea on all your hard work! We are all so proud of you and excited to watch your future unfold!
