Government and public service agencies to showcase their available positions

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – SC Works Trident is hosting the third annual Public Service Career Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the Charleston Area Convention Center as part of its continued celebration of Workforce Development Month.  

This career fair provides government and public service agencies, from local cities, municipalities, and counties, with the opportunity to showcase their available positions within the Tri-County region. • Public Service Career Fair: Wednesday, September 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Charleston Area Convention Center, 5001 Coliseum Drive, North Charleston.  

The event will offer opportunities for the public and high school seniors to explore potential career paths during two separate sessions. Pre-registration is not required. 

High school seniors from all four Tri-County region school districts will have the opportunity to connect with government employers to discuss job opportunities available upon graduation during an exclusive session from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.  

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the event will be open to the public with government and local public service employers on site to recruit employees, provide information on benefits offered, and conduct interviews.  

To maximize the benefits of the event, attendees should observe the following guidelines: 

• Bring an updated resume to the hiring event. 

• Be prepared for an on-site interview. 

• Email updated resume to employers, if needed 

“A career in public service is a noble calling that offers rewarding opportunities, right here in our region,” said BCDCOG Workforce Development Director Sharon Goss. “SC Works Trident is excited to host this unique hiring event for the second year to meet the needs of our community.”
