SC Works Trident will host a welding student hiring event in partnership with W International, a local advanced metal fabricator that provides support for the production of U.S. Navy submarines and surface vessels, from 7 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at 2040 Bushy Park Road in Goose Creek, S.C.

During the event, attendees will hear from W International representatives about the important work they do and have the opportunity to apply in person. No previous training or experience is required. 

Once accepted, participants will undergo a 10-12 week paid training course to attain a W International weld certification. Following the successful completion of training, participants will be eligible to begin work immediately, which will include building large components for a new fleet of submarines and aircraft carriers, supporting national defense efforts. 

“This upcoming event will provide a valuable opportunity for local jobseekers to get a foot in the door in one of our region’s leading industries while also being compensated for training on the job,” said SC Works Trident Workforce Development Director Sharon Goss. “We’re pleased to be partnering with W International to provide this new and exciting avenue for our workforce to thrive long-term.”
